Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 17: A Thrilling Battle and Unexpected Twists

Last week, fans were left in awe as Thorfinn revealed his old fighting stance, leaving us all wondering if he will choose to fight Snake or find a different way to resolve their conflict. With the season mostly focused on Thorfinn avoiding battles, it’s exciting to see him potentially taking a different path. But, that doesn’t mean it will be an easy decision for him, especially considering his vow to abstain from murder.

A Fierce Showdown

The episode kicks off with a heated battle between Thorfinn and Snake. Armed with only his bare hands, Thorfinn skillfully evades Snake’s sword strikes. Throughout the fight, both warriors ponder over how their lives ended up on the farm.

Unexpected Turns of Events

Meanwhile, Snake’s men keep a close eye on Arnheid, anticipating the moment Gardar will come to visit her. As the battle intensifies, Snake gains the upper hand by positioning himself in front of a wounded Gardar, seemingly securing victory.

Despite Arnheid and Sverkel’s pleas, Snake chooses to stab Gardar in the chest. But, surprise! Gardar miraculously survives the attack, catching everyone off guard. However, instead of seeking revenge, Gardar tries to strangle Snake, who almost meets his demise if not for Arnheid’s intervention.

A Bittersweet Conclusion

While Arnheid, Thorfinn, and the group manage to escape on Sverkel’s wagon, Gardar tragically dies in Arnheid’s arms before they can leave the farm. As Gardar transitions into the afterlife, viewers catch glimpses of his memories as a father and the brutal experiences of slavery. Ultimately, he finds solace in being reunited with Hjalti.

Sadly, Arnheid’s troubles aren’t over yet. The guards close in on her, ready to bring her back to the farm. It seems like things are only getting more challenging for Arnheid, Thorfinn, and Einar, adding an intriguing layer of complexity to the story.
